I have got the blues

Taka

I got gCHICAGO BLUES NIGHTh in1993 around and I found "Worried Life Blues" after gBRIGHT LIGHTS BIG CITYh. It was credited as Traditional. But I like it because the lyrics are just real and with strong rhythms. Then I thought that it might be played by not only native people but also musicians in bar, juke or anywhere. Since then I have tried to find another one. At that time, both internet and down loading music were not popular so the only thing which I can do was to go to CD shops. But it was a fun to find my favorites. I could find five cover versions. But I cannot get the original by "Maceo Merriweather ".The following is a list of some of them.

1st: CHCAGO BLUES NIGHT (1991) Deitra Farr (vocals), Chicago Beau (harp)
2nd: CHICAGO ALL STARS featuring Willie Dixon
3rd: BLUES BLUES the Jimmy Rogers All-Stars
4th: RIDING WITH THE KING B.B.KING & ERIC CLAPTON (2000)
5th: ERIC CLAPTON BLUES NIGHT (1990)

Deitra Farr is a female singer with soul-full voice. Others are performed with Blues man and Blues guitarist. The CHICAGO ALL STARS version is acoustic. I guess this one is similar to the original. Jimmy Rogers was a Blues man, who died just before this album was completed, a key figure in the history of Chicago Blues. The two KINGS sing it acoustic with guitars. ERIC CLAPTON BLUES NIGHT was recorded at London Royal AlbertL Hall Frbruary 3rd 1990. Eric said hA little loose but I think you like it ! h on the stage before playing it with Robert Cray(g), Buddy Guy(g), Richard Cousins(Bass), Johnie Johnson(p) and Jamie Oldaker(Ds).

We cannot talk about Blues (Jazz) without Jazz (Blues). Because Blues and Jazz are based on Deep South. Specially, New Orleans is remarkable. Rhythm came from Africa, European brought Harmony to N.O.. The mixture of them was Jazz. Blues and Jazz are just a category of music. But to research them is likely to study the history of USA.

If you are interested in Blues, I will recommend accessing to the sites so you can find other versions of "Worried Life Blues". The night is still young.

Worried Life Blues is a blues standard

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

" Worried Life Blues" is a blues standard that has become one of the most covered of all blues songs.Major "Big Maceo" Merriweather recorded "Worried Life Blues," a mid-tempo, 8-bar blues, in 1941. The song was Big Maceo's first single and was recorded with frequent collaborator, guitarist and fellow recording artist, Tampa Red. It was reported to have been a "big hit," but was released before the Billboard charts or a similar service began tracking such releases.

Although based on "Someday Baby Blues," recorded by Sleepy John Estes in 1935 (Champion 50068/Decca 7279), Big Maceo's "Worried Life Blues" eclipsed the song that inspired it." It was in the first batch of songs inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 1983 (alongside "Stormy Monday," "Sweet Home Chicago," "Dust My Broom," and "Hellhound on My Trail") in the "Classics of Blues Recordings" category.

Although there are differences between "Worried Life Blues" and "Someday Baby Blues," over the years they have become blurred by various cover versions of the songs which use elements from both songs, often combined with new lyrics and variations in the music. To illustrate the lyrical differences of the originals, the first few verses are as follows:

"Worried Life Blues" Big Maceo (1941):
Oh lordy lord, oh lordy lord
It hurts me so bad, for us to part
But someday baby, I ain't gonna worry my life anymore

" Someday Baby Blues" Sleepy John Estes (1935):
I don't care how long you go, I don't care how long you stay
But that good kind treatment, bring you back home someday
Someday baby, you ain't gonna worry my mind anymore - (alternately, you ain't gonna worry my life anymore)
